Pre-Exam 2024: Enrolment to the exam open until 15 May 2023
If you plan to sit the Pre-Exam 2024, be aware that enrolment has opened on 1 February 2023 and that the enrolment deadline is 15 May 2023.
Note that for a first time enrolment to the pre-examination candidates must already have registered (deadline for registration was 15 January 2023 - see the EQE registration webpage and our earlier blog post). Candidates who have previously been admitted to the pre-examination are already registered.
Please refer to the EQE enrolment webpage and the document "Enrolment process and fees for the EQE 2024" dd 27 January 2023 for details.

As enrolment for pre-exam 2024 will open, does that mean that the EQE 2025 will be the old way. To me the pre-exam is not part of this "new" EQE style.
ReplyDeletehttps://information.patentepi.org/issue-1-2023/new-format-of-the-eeqe.html <- if you look at the section "Entry into force and transitional provisions", you will find the most recent publicly available considerations.
DeleteThe final comment from Peter Pollard is pretty interesting!! :)
DeleteI do not know if I passed the pre-exam yet, but the distance learning course is a good course to take and I would recommend it. Maybe the lectures on their own wasn't so much for me but the study material and suggested assignments was a great help to get structure and discipline in your studies.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when the pre-exam results will be released? Since 2013 the results have *always* been released at the latest precisely 1 month after the exam (2014) and usually less, often much less. This year a month has elapsed already and there is silence from the EPO.
ReplyDeleteI think no one knows when. We just have to wait.
DeleteThis is insane. We are tired of waiting. Why does it have to be the longest wait since the introduction of pre-EQE. What are they discussing exactly?
ReplyDeleteIf it's gonna be burger or pizza for lunch
DeleteKebab please
DeleteAlso May 15 is less than four weeks away!
ReplyDeleteCould somebody please ask for an update from the EPO? Maybe DeltaPatents? I get it that they do not care about the candidates, but maybe about a big lawfirm?!
They wrote somewhere: "please refrain from asking about an exact date"
ReplyDeleteThis is on its own ridiculous. Why do you have unlimited time to announce the results? Specifically at our jobs there are always time limite, how come the examiner's don't have such such a time limit?
Is it normal that the results are this late? @Roel, is there a way that we could find out what is going on? I would like to enroll to the D paper course of DeltaPatents, but I don't want to do so without knowing whether I passed or not. I know you mentioned somewhere that you could push our registration by one year in case someone doesn't pass, but still, I know many people wouldn't register before getting their results. For example, I need to ask my employer to pay for my results, but I can't ask him to do so before saying that I passed. It's an awkward situation and it seems from the current situation this may take another one or two months
ReplyDeleteFor example is it possible to push the course starting date by one or two weeks?
DeletePlease discuss Pre-Exam 2023 matters on the Pre-Exam 2023 blog posts, and not in this Pre-Exam 2024 post.
DeleteSame thought here. I am interested in following the D paper course starting 1st of May, but kind of reluctant to enroll before knowing my results.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to assume that I passed.
Pre-Exam 2023 candidates just received an email from the EQE secretariat informing them the following:

Roel is it possible to postpone the start of the D paper course? I am sure many candidates including myself won't register due to this.
DeleteThe first course day of the D Distance course is 22 May.

ReplyDeletePlease discuss Pre-Exam 2023 matters on the Pre-Exam 2023 blog posts, and not in this Pre-Exam 2024 post.
DeleteI really don't agree with them releasing the Examiner's report before sending candidates their results. It should be done at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThat is also what is usually done, but they not provide it earlier as the result letters are not yet available, while the report allows you to determine (a good estimate of) your scores yourself so that you can continue to prepare for the main exam or for resitting the pre-exam.
DeletePlease discuss further Pre-Exam 2023 matters on the Pre-Exam 2023 blog posts, and not in this Pre-Exam 2024 post.

Dear Roel,
DeleteI wanted to discuss further matters with other candidates in the sections you have attached but the comment on those pages were not uploaded for some reasons.
Strangely, the comment works in this page though (2024 pre eqe related). Maybe there was a time limit to comment on 2023 pre eqe related pages?
Bests
I can't see new comments either. Especially in part 4. The number of comments is increasing but I can't see any of the new ones.
DeleteI see. Thanks D42!

Am I the only one whose results do not match the compendium? I failed but according to the compendium, I am almost 10 points short?
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly! I have 4 points gap with the score compare to the official answer and the actual result!
DeleteI have a two point difference - the score in the result is higher than what I calculated myself.
DeleteThey sent a score which is six point lower than what calculated looking at the examiner's report
Delete4 points gap here. But I am far from asuming that my counting was perfect.

Delete"24 May 2023:
Today, 24 May, candidates received the following email from the EQE secretariat:
“Subject: EQE 2023 Pre-examination - Communication from the Examination Board
Dear candidate,
We would like to inform you that after the release of the pre-examination results on 10 May 2023, we have encountered some discrepancies between the results communicated and what was to be expected in view of the Examiners’ Report. Upon conducting a thorough investigation, we have successfully identified the source of the issue, which is of a technical nature. Please be informed that the problem has been solved.
As a consequence, the results have been recalculated and must be re-issued. Therefore, the decision of the Examination Board concerning your result of the pre-examination 2023 communicated to you on 10 May 2023 is hereby revoked. A new decision based on the correct result is now available in myEQE.
Best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Sincères salutations
The Examination Secretariat
on behalf of the Examination Board”
It will be interesting to hear whether anyone got from an initial pass to a fail. I would expect that the latter did not happen, i.e., I would expect that if it you initially scored 70 marks and received pass decision, they kept you at pass also if your corrected score was below 70, e.g., 68 - so, that they did not issue you a fail decision. Was that the case? If so, conformation would be appreciated!
